It continues. The Day 6 entry has like a bazillion pics from the Tokyo Game Show. They're semi low quality for the flashbacks, but the gallery will have them in a slightly larger size. Either way, check it out!

Whoops! This was supposed to go up yesterday, but we hit a bit of a snag over here. More pics, more adventures! Day 5 of the tour was the free day, but that doesn't mean there's not plenty to show. Expect more later today to make up for the mixup of yesterday. |

| Canned Ramen - Lesson Learned |
| Posted October 23rd, 2007 by earl |
|
During Destination Japan's Tokyo Summer Maximum Tour on the day we went to Akihabara, I led a portion of the group from the JR station down Chuo Road past animate, Tora no Ana, Club Sega, etc. We checked out all the capsule toys there, and also took a peek into the Cospa store. On the way out, as a small group of us were about to head off to Yodobashi Akiba, I noticed something... It was what I'd been searching for... It was a canned ramen(!) vending machine, and I immediately bought a can. It came out pre-heated, and as I readied my tastebuds, I popped it open.
I posted about this stuff a while ago, mentioning that I would try it, and I did. Oh, did I ever. Let me start off by saying that the soup was good. And in that sentence, by "good" I mean "tasted like normal miso ramen." Inside you would find some menma (bamboo shoots, which were so-so), a single peice of meat (which was gross), and some partially see-through ramen noodles. The noodles in canned ramen are made out of a plant called Konjac. It's also called devil's tongue, and elephant yam to give you an idea of how delicious Konjac is. I felt like I was eating rubber bands.

Good eve, visitors! I can sense that some of you were starting to wonder if you'd ever see an update here. For now, read up and enjoy. Expect daily updates throughout next week, and not just on the flashbacks. You'll see a full gallery of last month's TSM tour pics, as well as tons more info on our upcoming tours next Spring! Don't just expect it, count on it. Have a great weekend! |

| Flashback - Tokyo Summer Maximum Day 3 |

The tour flashback section gets another update today, this time with loads more pics. This is all a precursor to a standard gallery, which I'll be uploading later when we're done... uhh flashbacking. Read through the Tokyo Summer Maximum Day 3 Flashback and check out what the tours are like when they really pick up steam and are going full-speed. Lots of pics to be had. For now they'll be at 800x600. For the gallery, I'll post them at a higher resolution. Okay, enough jabbering - GO GO GO! |

| Flashback - Tokyo Summer Maximum Day 1~2 |

 |
Many of you have been patiently awaiting photos of our illustrious adventures in the land of the rising sun. Patience, my brethren (and... sistren?), a full gallery of photos is soon to come. In addition to planning for next year's Winter/Spring tour schedule, I've been working on a new section called Tour Flashbacks.
Like a flashback episode of anime that explains why a character is fighting for what they believe in, so too will the flashback section explain why we at Destination Japan are striving for awesomeness. Rather than go to the front page of the Tour Flashbacks section, you can skip it by going directly to Day 1~2 of the Tokyo Summer Maximum Flashback. |

| Anime News Network's Crashing Japan |

Some of you may already be arriving here at Destination Japan through Anime News Network's feature article Crashing Japan. To those of you that are: Welcome! For the uninformed, Crashing Japan is written by Anime News Network's very own Bamboo, writer of ANN's column Shelf Life. Bamboo recently joined Destination Japan on the Tokyo Summer Maximum tour, adding to the group her sharp wit and enigmatic charm. As if you didn't have enough reason to visit Japan already, her account of her adventures in Japan while on our tour will undoubtedly turn you on to the idea even more. |
