Japan's Autumn Beauty

Autumn is the one of the best seasons to visit Japan! You will get a chance to feel the harmony of the fall foliage and the beautiful scenery of Japan, and it is also very comfortable weather in which to travel. This escorted tour will take you to big cities like Tokyo, Osaka, traditional cities like Kyoto, and a sacred mountain, Mt. Takao, for hiking. Mt. Takao was introduced in the Michelin Green Guides for Travel and Tourism as a place that is relatively close to the center of Tokyo where you can meet the "Real Japan." You can either hike to the summit, or take a cable car and a short walk. After hiking and working up a sweat, you will soak in a hot-spring and relax at a traditional Japanese-style Inn, or Ryokan in Hakone. There are many places to visit and see, so come to experience Japan’s Autumn Beauty this year with us! You can share your trip memories with your family on Thanksgiving, too!

Tokyo Sightseeing

There are two sightseeing days in Tokyo. On the first day, we’ll visit old Japanese towns such as Asakusa, Ameyoko, and places like the Tokyo Edo Museum, Imperial Palace, and Tokyo Sky Tree, where you will feel the atmosphere of old Japan. Asakusa is always a popular and fun spot for tourists to see all of the small and unique shops on the Nakamise-Dori street. Tokyo Sky Tree will be the new broadcasting tower replacing the Tokyo Tower, which is currently under construction and expected to open for the public in December, 2011. Now the Tokyo Tower stands 1,092 feet (333m) high is set to lose its title as Japan’s tallest artificial structure to the new tower, which will stand 2,080 feet (634 m) high, almost twice the height of the Tokyo Tower. So check out how tall it actually is when we get there! On the second day, we will visit must-see spots like Tsukiji, Hamarikyu, Tokyo Tower, Meiji Jingu Shrine, and more! At the same time we will enjoy the bustling Tsukiji Market, and feel the spiritual and peaceful atmosphere of the Meiji Shrine and Hamarikyu.

3 night accommodations in Hotel Grand Palace, Tokyo
We specially chose “Hotel Grand Palace” for you. The perfect location in the center of Tokyo overlooking the Imperial Palace, which allows early birds to take morning walks. It’s easy access to all of Tokyo like the Ginza, Akihabara, Shinjukuku, Shibuya, and Roppongi districts, which are all within a 15-minute distance via the subway. The hotel is situated just a minute away from the Tokyo Metro Subway Kudanshita station, and 6 minutes away from JR Iidabashi station. (Trip Advisor Rating: 4 stars)
Mt. Takao - Stay at Hakone

You may feel a little bit tired of bus tours in last two days, so we’ll take you to Mt. Takao, which was introduced in the 'Michelin Green Guides for Travel and Tourism' as a place that is relatively close to the center of Tokyo, where you can meet the "Real Japan." People who feel adventurous can go hiking, or you can even take a cable car and admire the view of the autumn nature and enjoy a picnic. We will head to Hakone afterward where you will stay at Hotel Okuyumoto, and enjoy an onsen (hot-spring) and delicious Japanese cuisine. You will be sleeping on a futon spread out over tatami flooring (straw mats,) to get a good night’s sleep!

1 night accommodation in Hotel Okuyumoto, Hakone

After climbing up the Mt. Takao and having a good workout, there is no better way to relax than by soaking yourself in a hot-spring. Hotel Okuyumoto in Hakone has large common and open-air baths for both men and women, along with the sauna.  It's been said that the hot-spring is good relief for muscle soreness, neuralgic pain, illnesses, and injuries. You will also enjoy a Japanese-style dinner and a breakfast made from its fresh and seasonal ingredients to your heart's content!  We’re planning to get to the hotel early around afternoon-time, so that you will have plenty of time to immerse yourself into an authentic onsen experience and relaxation at Hotel Okuyomoto.

Osaka Sightseeing

On the day we arrive at Osaka by shinkansen (bullet train,) we’ll have a quick Osaka sightseeing experience where we’ll visit two symbols of Osaka.  One is Osaka Castle, built by the historic Hideyoshi Toyotomi who unified the political factions of Japan. The second is the Aerial Garden Observatory, a unique modern building which has an aerial garden observatory with a 360-degree panoramic view on top and a gourmet town 'Takimi-koji,' which is a reconstruction of Osaka's olden alleys on the first basement level. Once you check-in the hotel, you’re free to explore Osaka!

Kyoto Sightseeing

We have two sightseeing days in Kyoto. The first day tour will take you to the Must-See spots starting from Kinkakuji (Golden Pavilion,) Kiyomizu Temple, Sanju-Sangendo, Fushimi Inari Taisha, and more.  Fushimi Inari Shrine is the most famous of several thousands of shrines dedicated to Inari across Japan and also for the countless torii gates.  It’s worth seeing it! The second day tour will take you to Arashiyama and Sagano known as the peaceful and beautiful area.  Here we’ll take a two-hour boat tour down Hozu River, which flows through an idyllic, forested valley, as well as to take the Sagano Romantic Train known as 'Torokko' tram to enjoy views of the valley.  If we get lucky, we’ll have a chance to see the gorgeous autumn leaves!

4 night accommodations in Hotel Granvia, Osaka
Osaka is the lively and active city full of delicious foods, entertainment, and shopping. After experiencing the traditional city of Kyoto, you can explore the very modern city, Osaka, on your own. Hotel Granvia Osaka is your hotel, located right at the JR Osaka station where you can easily access to Kobe, Nara, Kyoto, and any other famous sightseeing places in Kansai area. Feel the energy of Osaka and have fun there!
Stay longer by extending your trip!

This tour will end on Nov-21 but if you want to stay longer to explore more of Japan or plan to visit your family and relatives, you’re free to do that.  Please be sure to tell us your desired return date at the time of booking, then we can reserve a seat for your return trip.  Destination Japan can easily arrange your extended stay either in the same hotel or anywhere else in Japan.  Very convenient Japan Rail Passes and discounted Japan domestic tickets are available, too.
