Omiya Bonsai Village (as known as bonsai Mecca)

Omiya Bonsai Village in Saitama started in 1925 after bonsai growers in Tokyo experienced the Great Kanto earthquake and decided to move to Omiya where there was good soil for nurturing bonsai with clean water and fresh air. The Village now consists of five Bonsai nurseries and the Omiya Bonsai Art Museum which is just opened March, 2010. This Village holds the Great Bonsai Festival from May 3rd to May 5th every year and more than 230,000 people visited last year. You will find many of fine bonsai collections owned by bonsai nurseries as well as exhibits by amatures, and shops for bonsai, and bonsai pots too. Bonsai enthusiasts just can’t miss this big event of the year!

Visit Bonsai Masters' gardens & nurseries

Start a day visiting Uchiku-tei garden, Japan’s greatest and most comprehensive bonsai center, owned by Mr. Seiji Morimae who is known for his Bonsai and Suiseki works. Then visit the garden of Mr. Masahiko Kimura who is widely recognized as a Bonsai master in the world. After appreciating master’s works, visit Yorozuen Shohin nursery which has been leading Shohin industry for four generations in 100 years. At the end of the day, visit Shunkaen Bonsai Museum owned by Mr. Kunio Kobayashi, the world famous bonsai master who is a four-time winner of the top Prime Minister's Award at Japan Professional Artist Exhibition. There is a good probability of meeting some of masters too. Wish us luck!
