About Earl:
Earl Gertwagen is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara, and works for H.I.S. International Tours, Inc. as the Destination Japan package tour coordinator and tour guide. A student of Japanese, an avid gamer, a (somewhat picky) fan of anime and manga, Earl has had experience organizing and running several pop culture tours to Japan through former company Pop Japan Travel, as well as experience translating manga for a well-known American manga publisher.

I'm incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to help run these kinds of tours. There are so many things that I enjoy about Japan, and being able to take others over and share it all with them really makes the hard work of running these tours absolutely worth it. I think these tours are a great way to take a stress-free trip to a fun, interesting country with a group that doesn't hold your hand all the way through. Leading tours filled with people who all share an interest in Japan and it's many facets, or even in travel to new countries in general, is really something special, and I think everyone owes it to themselves to take that chance and try it out.
